Low Vision Care

New visual aids and techniques can help those with low vision use remaining sight to its utmost. Our specialists will show you how to adapt your visual ability so you can continue to read mail, pay bills, write letters, operate household appliances, dial the phone, and groom yourself. Low-vision evaluations and occupational therapy services are covered by Medicare and most private insurance.

What is low vision? It is a condition that cannot be corrected with surgery, medication, eyeglasses, or contact lenses. People with low vision may experience partial sight, tunnel vision or blind spots in their vision.

Whom we help: Adults whose vision cannot be corrected with surgery, medication, or eyeglasses due to eye conditions such as macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, or glaucoma.

What to expect: All patients receive a comprehensive in-office evaluation and, in most cases, a home visit to assess individual living circumstances. Depending on your situation, we may prescribe optical devices, vision aids, or occupational therapy.

The Masonicare difference: Our ophthalmologists, optometrists, and occupational therapists specialize in treating geriatric patients and are well versed in the latest therapeutic and adaptive techniques.
