Pediatric Palliative Care - Pedi-Pal Program
For most children with life-limiting illnesses, it’s mom or dad who’s the primary caregiver. Masonicare understands you want to be there for your child during this difficult time. But, let us support you. Our caring, experienced experts can take responsibility for so many tasks that may distract you from what’s most important… simply having time to enjoy with your beloved child. And, thanks to the support of The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut, there’s relief from financial concerns. Our Pedi-Pal program cares for patients and families regardless of their ability to pay.
What is pediatric palliative care? Comprehensive medical, emotional, therapeutic, and spiritual support for the patient, parents, and the entire family. The goal is to ease the patient’s distressing symptoms and pain, and to help alleviate the stress family members naturally feel.
Whom we help: Any child with a life-limiting illness and their family.
What to expect: Professional guidance and support from an inter-disciplinary team including a nurse, physician, social worker, home care aide, spiritual care coordinator, a bereavement coordinator and a trained volunteer who all focus on the special needs of you and your child. Complementary services such as therapeutic massage, expressive art activities, music therapy, pet visits and expressive puppetry help support your child psychologically. Our service also helps parents make special arrangements for an ill child’s educational needs.
The Masonicare difference: Masonicare has over a century of experience helping patients maintain quality of life.
